Newsletter #27 — The Rondolet
Rondolet — In my December 1 blog I talk about the rondolet, one of the forms that Cole Renner chooses to write poetry in. If you have already read The F Words, I think you will enjoy this blog because it may make you look at a particular poem in a different way.
Diversity, Social Justice, English Teachers, Poetry, and Left Organizations — These are the categories I've been marketing The F Words to since February 2021. The only category that I've had zero responses from is Poetry, and that puzzles me. There are maybe 25 poems in The F Words, and they're important to Cole's growth and to the book's plot. The poems range from free verse to form poetry, and they do that for a purpose.
Even though I've had no responses from poetry magazines or poetry websites, I've found that the poetry posters I've made and the poetry videos I've made receive a far greater number of hits than do any of the other subject areas above. At least double the number of hits! And for all I know, people are buying the book partly because of its poetry.
There's something here I have failed to coordinate or tap into. If you have any ideas, let me know!
Jack Graney Honored with 2022 Frick Award — On December 8 the National Baseball Hall of Fame announced that Jack Graney was the recipient of the 2022 Frick Award. The award will be bestowed on July 23, 2022, in Cooperstown. Phil and I hope to be there!
Wishing you all Fantastic, Felicitious, Fun-Filled Festivities!!
