Newsletter #18 —Ebook! Canva Posters!
EBook Available September 15! — It's official! The pub date of The F Words ebook is September 15, 2021. You can order it from Barnes & Noble, Amazon, or anywhere you buy your ebooks. (This should appeal to those of you who are eager-eager to read the book!)
Canva Posters — Based on the adage that a picture is worth a thousand words, I decided to make posters about The F Words and share them on social media. To do this, I started a free account on Canva. My intent was to create posters with a live link: a URL that viewers could click on and buy the book.
Unfortunately, it took me many experiments to learn that JPEG files cannot contain live links. (I think I knew this way back when . . . but I forgot it.) PDF files can contain live links. But Facebook does not permit the posting of PDF files.
So. No live links.
Nevertheless, I went ahead and made a dozen posters and am sharing one on social media very third or fourth day. I vary the colors between teal, orange, and black . . . I guess these are my "brand" colors. I chose them because they pick up the colors of the bricks on the cover of The F Words.
The posters are popular, but the youtube videos are the most popular. I hope to have another such video by the time of the next newsletter.
Transportation Ironies — In previous newsletters I talked about printing and transportation difficulties for North American publishers — difficulties which caused City of Light to change the pub date for The F Words from September 1 to September 28. And then I talked about how quickly my bookmarks arrived from California: at least one month faster than pre-pandemic delivery used to take.
And now, instead of the warehouse shipping me boxes of The F Words for my use at Printers Row Lit Fest, it turns out that it's much, much easier for me to drive to the warehouse and pick the books up myself. Which I will do, next week!
