Newsletter #37 — The F Words at ALA Conference
Women at Play — I am slowly making progress with the videos on my self-published books. Here's Women at Play: The Story of Women in Baseball.
Jack and Larry — After Phil and I visit Cooperstown on July 23 to attend the ceremony at which the Ford Frick Award will be presented to Jack Graney (his granddaughter and family will be there to receive the plaque), we then drive to St. Thomas, Ontario, to attend the dedication of the statue of Jack and Larry. We will attend a July 27 14U baseball game: each of the 34 players (17 per team) will receive an autographed copy of Jack and Larry. In addition, the book will be on sale for the public. I'm very excited to participate in this honoring of Jack Graney. This is not the first time I've autographed copies of the book in Canada: always so much fun to return to Jack's hometown, where his character and contributions are acclaimed.
ALA Conference — City of Light, publisher of The F Words, will attend the 2022 American Library Association Conference, held in Washington, DC. The ALA is the biggest library event of the year, and The F Words is one of five books which will be featured by City of Light. I hope librarians notice both The F Words and other City of Light titles.
Library Presentation — And speaking of libraries and librarians, I will be giving a presentation, The Power of F Words, at the Plainfield Public Library (IL) on November 5, 2022, as part of the library's celebration of NaNoWriMo . . . that's National Novel Writing Month. More about this in later newsletters.
My Writing Life: 2 — On cork bulletin boards and push pins and what they have to do with my writing life.
